Camping!

So . . . . I made it through my 1st week of school! I was SOOO exhausted with school, Olympics, and everything else . . . . and then went camping! It was my first camping trip of the summer. It was SOOOO much fun! I loved it! It was great to completely get away from school stuff and just enjoy friends and nature and the great smell of the campfire! The only thing I don't like besides bugs (but that's okay, since I'm in their territory) is being dirty. I don't mind getting dirty as long as I can get clean again. It was Alecia, Christine, Lindsay, and I.

Between paper, whiteboards, and camp dirt, my fingernails have no chance! They are split and broken, but at least are clean now. :) My fingernails and fingers are always black, red, or blue, or some other color from whiteboard markers, vis-a-vis markers, and/or regular markers once school starts. Anyhow, I digress.

Camping was so much fun!!! We didn't go that far away, but that's what is so great about Utah! We could get away, but didn't have to drive forever.

We set up our tent first. Unfortunately, the site was tiny. There was a flat part, but the tent overlapped up the hill in the back and down the hill in the front. We were afraid by the end of the night, that we would roll down the hill. So . . . we found out there was another camp site, where we could have an enjoyable night's sleep and not fall down the hill. I'm sure it was very entertaining watching us take the tent, somewhat collapsed across the way between campsites, trying to avoi
d all the trees. These pictures were collapsing the tent and then we moved it across the way. We had to do it in stages of course and the tarp was on the bottom. It was a little adventure. We did luck out, though, and somehow managed to get through the canyon without paying the fee (we didn't sneak through; there wasn't anybody there). We also thought we'd have to pay extra for another car, but didn't.

We also had dutch oven cooking. I couldn't resist eating it. I had great plans to avoid it, but it didn't work! Lol. Alecia made fabulous raspberry peach cobbler. The boy scouts on the next campsite over offered us their leftover pizza dutch oven. Wow! That was good! It was a new recipe for me. The next morning, Lindsay cooked us a "hungry man's breakfast" in the dutch oven . That was good!

We had fun taking pictures of each other and sp's (I found out this means self-portraits - now I'm in the know. lol)

And . . . a few pictures of warming our cold feet by the fire. The last one is of my trying to warm the tops of my feet. I forgot my tennis shoes and had to make due with my sandals. You can't really tell, but I crossed my feet and was holding them up. It didn't totally work, but did get a little bit of warmth on top. The next morning was a beaut, with white socks and sandals.

Alas, it was a great one nighter trip and very nice to get away. I was even more exhausted the next day, but it was worth it. It was nice to take a mental break from school things. I think I'm ready for this busy week coming up. Unfortunately, the plan was to start the week off right by getting to bed early. Did that happen? Not yet! It's already after 10:30pm. Well . . . off to bed!

About Me

Kelly and Natasha walk day by day through the blessings and challenges of daily life. Some days are wonderful and others are rough, but somehow we always make it through. It took a long time for us to find each other, but find each other we have. We are learning to be better parents, step-mom for the first time, and bringing a baby together into this world. Life certainly isn't easy, but we are making it work and growing closer everyday and loving each other more each day. This is all possible through our faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ. This is our journey!
